Happy New Year!

It was a beautiful morning for New Years here on Maui.  Patchy clouds and a wind blowing from the north again.  There is a slight swell which has mucked up the water visibility and the ocean conditions were a bit choppy.  I paddled down to the boat ramp and when I arrived,  there were four kayaks hanging out in my spot!  Suddenly a big turtle surfaced and was swimming in my direction. The turtle came right up to my board!  Since there were other people at the boat ramp, I decided to paddle north.  Suddenly I was surrounded by three turtles, and another one was swimming underneath me!  The wind was getting stronger so I decided to paddle back.  It’s always a good day when I see turtles,  but heck, it’s always a good day on Maui!  I paddled back against the wind, paddling over lots of bumps.  Happy New Year!
