Rockin’ and Rollin’ today!

Beautiful day!

Before I put on my sunscreens, I took a look down at the ocean with the binoculars.  All I could see were white caps and I wondered how windy it was going to be for paddling.  When I got down to the beach, it definitely was already windy, but it was blowing from the south.  The white caps I saw with the binoculars were blowing from the north!  When I went out on my board the ocean was bumpy,  pushing from the north, but while paddling, the wind was blowing from the south.  How screwy is that?  Well, this is what happened…..the wind swells gave me a nice push and the wind blowing from the south kept me cool!  It was actually okay,  but the ocean was warning me about those white caps. Then I was rockin’ and rollin’….. all the way down to the boat ramp!  I had a feeling no one else would be there since it seemed like I was about the only one out paddling in the wind.  As I entered the boat ramp area, I was thinking….. I hope the turtles come up quick because I don’t know how long I dare stay down here!  Just as I finished that thought, I spotted turtle #1.  It was several yards in front of me, so I paddled quickly.  Just about the time I got to it, a second turtle surfaced and I was sitting in-between them!  Then a third turtle popped up and they made a triangle around me!  I paddled a little more north and spotted two more turtles, so I quickly paddled over to them.  One of them swam right up to me and then dove under my board, and then two more turtles joined us and I was surrounded!  It all happened so fast, and then I decided to be smart and paddle back before the wind got really crazy.  On the way back, I had the wind behind me, but the current and wind swells were pushing from the north, so I got my extra workout on the way back this time.  I made it back before the wind got crazy and I managed to get in my swim in too.  Not bad for a windy, rolling kind of day!
