It was another beautiful day and my third day in a row paddling! I headed straight to the boat ramp. I ran into a paddling friend and we paddled together down to the boat ramp. I am so glad the turtles are back! Sixteen turtles today and that wasn’t counting numerous other turtles that were hanging at the ocean bottom having a convention! This one came right up to my board and popped its head out to say Good Morning! I can’t believe I actually caught it in a photo! I sat between three sets of two turtles and I haven’t had the opportunity to experience that in weeks. We also passed a group of paddlers. a canoe, and a boat that were very close to a whale a bit farther out. We paddled out a ways but not as far as the others and the whale was just hanging at the surface. The people on the canoe said it was a mother whale nursing a calf…..but two other paddlers said it was just one whale who might have been birthing a baby. They usually come in closer to shore when either of those things are happening so who knows! There was a lot of whale activity out on the ocean today, but farther than we dared paddle out to, but it is still fun watching from the water. There was VOG in the air today so it wasn’t as clear as yesterday but still was a pretty perfect day! My friend paddled north and stayed to play with more turtles. I was so happy for so many turtles! I paddled back in perfect conditions and caught up with my friend. We paddled down to Kalama Park because it was too nice to go in! When I got back, I went for a walk and a swim. My swim was nice too and the water was so clear! The reef was full of busy fish and a small school of silver and blue fish accompanied me on my swim back. It was such a nice day!! I want more of these kind of days!
