Nice morning for the first day of Spring!  A little bit of everything weather wise except rain so far.  Clouds and sun and clouds and sun….. but good swimming conditions.  A baby turtle zipped by me while I was swimming!  So cute and so fast!  Then I was off Paddling!   I paddled south towards the boat ramp.  I figured I had at least an hour before any wind moved in.  I had three turtles down at the boat ramp…… very close to the rocks.  Then on the way back…. a turtle popped up at Kam 2!  My next stop was the point…. and two turtles there.  That made six turtles in all for today!  The last turtle was big and quite a poser.  I got some great shots of that one!  Suddenly the wind started to move in so I came in.  Just in time to safely get my board strapped on to my racks.  Not a bad day for the first day of Spring!  I need more days like this……

What a spectacular beach day!  Much better than yesterday.  I walked the beach until the sun came up and then took off for my swim.   Great swimming conditions!  Then great paddling conditions….. so I took my board out.  I headed south towards the boat ramp.  Really nice conditions!  I spotted a manta ray when passing Kam 3, right under me! I haven’t seen rays for awhile so that was a treat.  Down at the boat ramp there was an outrigger canoe with snorkelers and some stand up paddlers snorkeling off their boards…. and no turtles!  I almost left, but then the others left and the turtles started popping up!  They started coming up in two’s and three’s until I had counted thirteen turtles.  Then two more rays appeared too!  Even Bumpy was out today posing as usual!  At Kam 3…… one more turtle surfaced….. it was so little.  I ended up staying out for an hour and a half!  It was so very nice and I really needed acturtle day too.  Fourteen turtles in all and three manta rays for today!  I hope this is the start of Spring conditions! I loved hanging with my turtle buddies!

What a perfect morning!  Blue skies…. a sunrise….. beach walk…. and swimming with a turtle!  The water is still very clear. I waited too long to decide about Paddling and it just got too late.  It’s okay…. I totally enjoyed just having a nice day at the beach!  More please!

At least it wasn’t raining this morning!  Yesterday I walked in the rain and swam in the rain….. so seeing some sunshine today has been great!  There are still some lingering clouds…. but it’s supposed to improve in the next few days.  Today’s swim was wonderful…. the water is definitely cooler….. but it’s been so clear.  I didn’t even want a rainy day to interfere with swimming!  But the conditions still looked decent….. so I took my board out too!  Initially it was good conditions but suddenly got very bumpy and it was a lot of work Paddling.  I couldn’t get very close to the rocky point for fear I might get pushed into the rocks, but I did spot two turtles out there….. however both were swimming well beneath me and the choppy water didn’t make me want to hang around.  I paddled north to Cove Park and then the water calmed down a bit.  That didn’t last though, so I paddled home.  I was happy to get out there…. but I’m looking forward to better Spring conditions for Paddling!  I’ve pretty much had it with inclement weather at this point….. and ready for Spring……

Yes it was another windy, stormy looking morning.  I wasn’t sure if it was going to rain or not….. but I decided to stay. I walked the beach and didn’t hold out much hope that the sun wound make it out.  The sun tried and finally did come out a little, so I headed out for my swim.  The water was so clear and swimming was wonderful!  I saw a lot of fish and towards the end of my swim…a turtle appeared heading north!  I swam with it for awhile and got photos.  Then the turtle headed out to sea and I came in.  The wind was so cold…oh my….. we are not used to this cold wind!  I stuck around to see if the wind might back off…..but that didn’t happen.  The sun came out again for about half an hour tops …… and then it got chilly again.  I’m so glad I did swim….. it’s always a great day when I get to hang out with turtles!  Paddling will come on another day….. soon  I hope….

When I got up this morning….. it wasn’t windy!  It was not as cold as yesterday either.  I walked the beach and watched the sun struggling to emerge from clouds ….. it finally did.  The water looked pretty good too, people were taking out their outrigger canoes and paddle boards.  I headed out for my swim and the water was so clear!  I saw lots of fish but no turtles this morning.  The water was still pretty nice after swimming…… so I decided to go out Paddling!  A friend and I paddled down to the end of Kam 2…… and then decided we really didn’t trust the wind and turned around.  We stopped at the point where we saw two turtles and a lot of snorkelers.   I headed north and noticed a big turtle right in front of me!  I paddled with it for awhile …… until the wind roared in with white caps.  I decided to call it a day and paddled in.  It was so much effort trying to get my board strapped up on my racks! I had to do it between wind gusts!  Once that wind came in….. it got to cold to hang out at the beach.  Yes…. Maui can get cold this time of year!  I’m looking forward to Spring when we usually get much better weather and conditions.  But at least I did get out on my board and had three turtles today!  It’s all good….

It’s been so cold!!!  I’m not kidding.  This wind is so cold, the beach was nearly empty today.  And the wind has just not stopped either.  The morning looked pretty stormy and the sun was trying to break through the cloudy skies, not making much progress.  I usually like to swim when the sun is up but today I had to decide whether to go in the water or not!  Well I decided on yes.  The water was so clear!  I got to swim with two lovely turtles and get lots of photos!  I wasn’t looking foreword to getting out of the water with the cold wind.  Brrrr… it was so cold.  Even the beach shower we usually consider to be cold…. felt warm today.  That is so rare!  I’m so glad I swam and got to enjoy my turtles.  I hope it warms up soon and the wind starts to behave so I can go out Paddling soon.  Until then I will be happy to enjoy my swims…..
