The day started out calm….. but it wasn’t long before some wind from the south caused the water to get choppy. I went out paddling and even though it was a bumpy ride…… I was glad to be out on the water! Then I had a nice long swim and a male turtle joined me. I got lots of photos and a video! Nice!

Wow! The day started out so perfect! Perfect paddling conditions all the way down to the boat ramp! Then just about the time I arrived…… so did the wind. I watched it for a few minutes and decided I did not want to take the chance of getting caught in the wind! The wind was blowing from the south so luckily I got a boost back to Kam 1. Shortly after I came in…… the wind backed off of course! By the time I went swimming, the wind had picked up again. I took my camera out with me anyway….. just in case I ran into turtles. The water visibility was marginal so I wasn’t sure if I could get any good pictures….. but I decided to try. Lucky for me…. turtle #1 came along and I got a video and pictures! Then turtle #2 showed up and I got a video and pictures of that one too. The first turtle was a male with the longest tail! The second turtle was a female. I was overjoyed to get to swim with, and photograph TWO turtles! Soon the wind changed directions and became trade winds and then didn’t let up. The day turned out much better than I had expected!
It was a beautiful morning at the beach. The water wasn’t totally calm because there were white caps way out and wind blowing from the south…… which made me not willing to trust the wind today! It was still really beautiful though. I paddled to the end of Kam 2 and then turned around. I stopped at the point and to my delight…… six turtles surfaced! I ended up paddling with the last one back to Kam 1. It seemed that the wind was planning to roar in ….. and then it would back off. Then the wind would change direction! Crazy! I had a great swim too and the water is so warm!

Oh boy! This was my swimming buddy for today! She was very friendly and posed for me. It was sheer joy spending time with this magnificent creature! I sure do love the Honu…….
Beautiful sun rise and morning! But by the time I went back down to the beach…. there were white caps from the north way out there….. and wind blowing from the south creating choppy conditions. I went out anyway! I headed south into the wind but when it appeared it was not backing off…..I decided to stay close by. I paddled over to the point and ran into a paddling friend who had been gone for several months. It was good to see her! Then turtles started to surface……about ten to be exact. There were two baby turtles too! I got photos! The wind started to switch directions so I headed back. It was tricky getting my board hoisted up on my racks with the gusts of wind! I am so glad I went out though! The next post will be about my amazing swim today! Stay tuned…..
