It was a nice sunset to come home to!

Lots of critters in Mexico!  Lots of iguanas, cats, dogs, squirrels, turtles, stingrays, fish…….you get the picture!  I especially enjoyed the critters in the sea of course!  The turquoise water and white sand is amazing….. and the sand never gets to hot to walk on.  We had a great time even though I only got to stand up paddle for three days during our month…… the swimming and snorkeling were great!  I’m so glad we brought our own snorkeling  equipment and now I’m questioning whether to get a blow up board to travel with.   We will see, but at least in Riviera Maya I don’t see anyone renting stand up boards (and there are good places for paddling too!)  Anyway….. after being gone for a month….I am glad to be back home on Maui!

It was another beautiful Maui day!  I paddled down to the boat ramp and only a few snorkelers were there but no boats. I was greeted by three turtles right away!  Then two more turtles joined us and I was surrounded!  One of the turtles was Bumpy!  Bumpy was hanging right next to me posing for photos.  Soon a kayak arrived with a tourist couple on it.  They were very excited by all the turtles and yelled “Hey….. you are surrounded”!  I said I sure am and told them about Bumpy.   They asked me if I was the “turtle whisperer”….. so I told them I had been called that a few times.  The couple took lots of photos and the turtles kept posing!  I counted about a dozen turtles for today!  It was so beautiful out on the water but suddenly the waters surface started to change.  I feared the wind was coming in early so I left the turtles and paddled back.  Just as I was passing Kam 3…… in came the wind!  The water got choppy and white caps appeared.  It was a lot of work paddling the rest of the way back!  It was a choppy swim too.  I swam north into the wind and then road  it back.  I hope the wind doesn’t come in early tomorrow…….

Beautiful!

Wow!  What a great paddling day!  It started out a bit windy and choppy….. but suddenly the wind backed off and it got perfect!  I headed down to the boat ramp. There were two boats with snorkelers in the water at MY spot!  Oh well….. it didn’t stop the turtles from coming up.  The snorkelers did interfere with a few photos…. but I still got some great shots!  I counted about a dozen turtles in all for the day…… and I was in turtle heaven.  I paddled back in nice conditions and the wind whipped back up by the time I went swimming.  It was a rough water swim but I just swam into the wind and let the wind give me a push back!  The water is still pretty clear.   I wonder what tomorrow will be like……

What a spectacular day!!  It started out with a pink sky…… then a perfect day for paddling and then over twenty turtles !!!  I haven’t had a day like this for awhile….. and it was fantastic.  As soon as I started out paddling I saw a turtle right under me.  Then down at the boat ramp something amazing happened……turtles were popping up everywhere!  I was going nuts taking pictures!  At one point…. I was sitting right in the middle of eight turtles!  They were just hanging out being so friendly…..after counting twenty turtles…. I quit counting.  It was so calm and beautiful!  I paddled back in perfect conditions and even got to swim with a turtle during my swim too.  It was just a turtle kind of day and so incredibly perfect…… wow…… I am so lucky!

It was a beautiful morning.  The ocean was a bit choppy….. but it was a go for paddling!  I headed down to the boat ramp.  I was the only one there so I had all the turtles to myself!  The first turtle popped up right away…… then four more turtles joined us!  I was surrounded a few times today! There were fourteen turtles at the boat ramp!  On the way back I paddled in closer to the rocks at Kam 1 and five turtles surfaced there!  That made nineteen turtles in all.  I love turtle days and I’ve had several of them in a row  now……. yay!

What a perfect paddling day!  Yesterday was nice too….. but the wind was iffy so I stayed closer to home.  Still…. six lively turtles came to play right off the point between Kam 1 & 2!  But today….. just wow….. it was spectacularly beautiful!  A paddling friend and I paddled down to the boat ramp and not a soul was there.  Initially we didn’t see a single turtle…. so I sat down on my board.  Suddenly five turtles popped up all around me!  Then six more turtles would surface and I found myself surrounded a couple of more times!  It was so great.  I love turtle days!  Although the water visibility was not as good as yesterday…… my swim was pretty nice too.  I hope tomorrow is just as nice!
