It was windy from the start today.  It was great for beach walking and I knew I would swim, but Paddling didn’t seem probable for today.  I zoomed down to the coral with the wind pushing me but I knew swimming back would be lots of work.  Down at the coral I had nine turtles!  The turtles and I were getting pushed around by the wind waves and current and a couple of them were just sitting on the sandy bottom.  One turtle dug in the sand to cover itself!  I hope the wind cooperates soon so I can get out Paddling…..

Eight lovely turtles and a Big Barracuda!  It was a beautiful day and the water was pretty clear.  I had a great time with the turtles.  The Barracuda came very close so I videotaped it….. until I saw all of its teeth!  They looked like a saw blade!   I swam away quick!  It was a good swim.    No Paddling today..

It was a lovely turtle day and the water visibility was greatly improved!  I had five turtles in all today and they were all hanging at the rocks munching seaweed.  The water did not stay calm so no Paddling today…… maybe tomorrow….

I finally got to go out Paddling today!  My swim was great as usual with ten turtles plus I saw an eel and baby Barracudas!  The wind cooperated today and I had three turtles out on my board.  The last one swam next to me while I paddled north down to Charley Young beach!  It was great to get out Paddling as well as swimming today.  I want to do that tomorrow too…..

Turtles, turtles, turtles!  They were out and active.  Probably 8-10 turtles in all.  I spent an hour and a half in the water with them!  The water was much more clear today too.  It was a great swim!  It was very calm…. until I came in from swimming….. then the white caps appeared and the wind threatened in and out.  No paddling today.  Still waiting for the wind to cooperate!

The water was much clearer today!  I had ten lovely turtles to swim with.  It was a great swim too.  I only saw one turtle with a tumor on the right side of its mouth.  That always makes me sad.  Most of the turtles are pretty healthy looking thank goodness!  The wind is being finicky right now so I’m waiting for more stability before going out Paddling…..

It was just a beautiful day with wind threatening here and there.  The water visibility was pretty bad!  The poor turtles couldn’t see much and I could not see them until either I ran into them or they ran into me!  It was pretty funny.  Well I hope the water clears up soon and the wind starts cooperating so I can get out Paddling again…..

It’s been great to get back out in the water after the hurricane ordeal.  Yesterday and today were pretty nice…. even the water was clear!  No brown runoff from the storm.  South Kihei barely got wind and really minimal rain.  We were lucky!  The turtles were active today and so were the Barracudas!  One Barracuda had something wrapped around it’s body….. maybe fishing line laced with seaweed.  Poor thing!  The wind and white caps came up early today so Paddling will have to wait for  another day…….

It was a beautiful day…… ten turtles to swim with!  The water visibility was unexpectedly good so that was good but we have a hurricane headed our way!  It’s a category 5….. expected to weaken some …. but could bring strong winds, rain and big waves for the south side.  I put my board in the garage until this thing gets past us.  My poor turtles!

It was a great turtle day!  The water was a bit choppy but the turtles and I managed.  All but one of the turtles were at the rocks feeding and what a show they put on!  The acrobatics these turtles do to get to food in the rocks is hilarious!  They were swimming all around me and I had to get out of the way quick when a wave hit the rocks because the turtles came swimming right at me!  One female turtle is huge and no way did I want her flying into me.  Anyway it was pretty entertaining!  Then as I left…. Baby Came up twice  to visit and I got some photos of her too.  It was a great swimming workout but too windy off and on to go Paddling.  Maybe tomorrow….
