It was a beautiful day!  It was pretty mellow yet the ocean wasn’t calm.  I decided to swim.  The water felt great but the visibility was zero.  The sunset was very nice!

Well it rained last night and there was a flood advisory for all of Maui too.  This morning…. it was just beautiful!  It was windy though and after getting beat by the wind yesterday….. I decided on a swim day.  The water felt great!  I swam down almost to the end of Charley Young beach and then let the wind push me back.  The sunrise was amazing!

The morning started out nice.  It looked very good for paddling.  I headed down to the boat ramp.  Two other paddlers were already there so I stayed out a bit.  Two turtles surfaced but didn’t hang around.  Suddenly the surface of the water changed so I headed back.  It was too late….. the wind came in and caught me!  It was so much work to paddle against the wind!  White  caps and wind swells were battering me! The wind really wanted to grab my hat too.  It was crazy!  Several times I begged the wind to stop ….. But it had other plans today.  I finally made it back!  I was smart when I went swimming  and swam against the wind….. Letting it toss me on the way back!  Now that is pretty fun.  I usually try not to get caught in the wind…..but today the wind won…..

What a treat!  Even the ocean was pink!  I’m really enjoying this time of day……

Wow!   A perfect morning!  No wind and nice glassy conditions …… Perfect paddling!  I paddled down to the boat ramp in search of my turtles …. But not even one turtle was around today.  Oh well….. Yesterday was quite a turtle day!  I thoroughly enjoyed paddling anyway….I guess every day can’t be a turtle day.  It was so beautiful out on the water that I didn’t want to come in!  It stayed just as nice for my swim too.  The water visibility is improving.  Then about an hour later….. wind started to blow, clouds came in…….and it started to rain!  What a quick switch…..  It was time to go home……

It was a turtle day!  The swell has passed and I got back out on my board this morning.  It was a bit choppy at first with wind blowing from the south.  I headed south anyway.  By the time I headed past Kam 3….. the wind backed off some  but if was still a bit bumpy.  The turtles didn’t make me wait!  The first turtle surfaced out farther so I paddled out.  Then two more joined us and I was in a turtle triangle!  Another very friendly turtle popped up and was posing.  There was a short break….and then two more surfaced!  I got so many photos!  Just as I had decided to head back….. a really little turtle popped up by my board.  I tried hard to get a photo but it was quick!  It kept popping up and diving down all around me but it was too quick. I paddled back in calmer conditions and then went swimming.  The water visibility was a little better but not by much.   Water temperature is 82 degrees!  Such a nice morning……

Yesterday the south swell was dropping but the visibility in the water was terrible.  The swell and current kicked up a lot of sand into the water.  I decided to just go out and backstroke.  The water felt so good! I saw two turtles passing by though.  Today the swell was down even more and it was beautiful.  I decided to give it one more day and just swim.  The water visibility is still messed up.  I couldn’t see the ocean bottom today.  Hopefully it will be a paddling day tomorrow….
