So yesterday was a beautiful day and just perfect for paddling.  I couldn’t wait to get out there!  I was happily paddling down to the boat ramp with a paddling friend when the lifeguards started making some announcement.  I wasn’t paying much attention to it but suddenly my friend said “Shark!”.  She freaked and went in but I continued down to the boat ramp.  The tour boat had just dropped off its snorkelers and the turtles were just starting to surface.  I got one photo and then a lifeguard on a surfboard paddled up and told the snorkelers to get out of the water!  They started to panic as they climbed onto the boat.  I moved away from them but the lifeguard yelled at me to go in.  I told him I needed to get back to Kam 1…… But first I wanted to get more turtle photos!  He looked set me and said “Seriously?”….. and I said, yeah seriously!   Well he managed to mess up the turtles so I headed back to Kam 1….. Annoyed!   It was so perfect paddling too!   I made my way back to Kam 1 where the lifeguards were threatening some paddlers out pretty far because they weren’t coming to shore.  I came in and of course, couldn’t swim now that the shark signs were up!  I hung out out at the beach hoping they would open the beach….. But no luck so I went home.  Today was beautiful too……  But windy…..  So I went for the swim I missed yesterday and then left.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

What a great day out on the water!  It was so perfect!  Of course I headed to my favorite place hoping the turtles would be around…..  Well they sure were!   Five friendly turtles happy to get their picture taken!  I got to sit in between two turtles and they were all around me!  I was having such a great time that I didn’t nitice the water  getting a bit choppy.   The wind was acting like it was serious about coming in so I headed back.  Another big turtle popped up while I was passing Kam 3 and it was friendly too…. Just begging me to stay and play.  I wanted to stay….but the wind was bearing down on me.  I continued on paddling against the wind all the way back!  It was quite the workout.  I didn’t even mind the wind because it was blowing the right direction….. Blowing the vog back!  I made it in and hurried to put my board onto my racks.   The wind backed off for a few minutes and then roared in again.  I went swimming and swam into the wind and let the wind push me back.  The wind gently tossed me around but I didn’t fight it.   The water was so clear and beautiful!  What a nice day and SIX turtles too!!!

Beautiful day…… It always is….. But today the wind came in.  I could see the whitecaps out there and it was windy…. But the wind hadn’t fully come in yet.  It was like it couldn’t make up its mind!  I headed for the boat ramp hoping to visit the turtles again but apparently the turtles had other plans.  I ran into a paddling friend and neither of us saw a single turtle!  OH well….. It was a bit choppy too  but so beautiful.  We didn’t stay long because of the impending wind and my friend went in at Kam 2.   Then I paddled against the wind and chop the rest of the way back to Kam 1!  Then the wind backed off again but cranked up again when I swam.  It was one of those days!  The water is super clear right now though so I enjoyed that.  I swam north against the wind… and then got a push back.  I wonder what the wind has planned for tomorrow…… I know I won’t be cursing the wind because it’s keeping the vog in check!

Oh wow!  What a perfect day!  When I first went out paddling,  I could see the white caps looming out farther and that was creating a little choppiness on the water.  I figured I had at least an hour before the wind blew in so I headed to the boat ramp.  It was a joy to see clear skies with no Vog!  It was a great view of Kahoolawe today.  I got down to the bost ramp just as the tour boat was arriving.  The first turtle that popped up quickly got over run with snorkelers and they were harassing the turtle!  Then they interfered with my attempt to get a photo.  The same thing happened with the next turtle!  I was getting annoyed and the boat staff wasn’t telling them to stop.  Finally I moved away from the snorkelers and two turtles surfaced…. one on each side of my board.  I was able to get some photos that time.  Then three more turtles popped up and that made seven turtles for the day!    On the way back… The wind completely backed off and it got so perfect!  I really didn’t want to go in.  The conditions stayed so nice all the way through my swim too!  I hope tomorrow is just as nice…….

I got lucky with the wind.   It was forecast to be strong today but it held off until I was done paddling and swimming.  I could clearly see all white caps out farther…… But it thsnkfully didn’t come in while I was out on the water.  I paddled down to the boat ramp  in conditions that were a bit choppy.  The white caps out there were sending in some choppy water.  The wind has been blowing the right way lately so no vog right now!  The tour boat was already at the bost ramp with its snorkelers so it was another turtle sharing day.   The first turtle surfaced in the middle of the snorkelers!  It was so close to them.   Then another turtle popped up.  I moved out away from the snorkelers and encountered two more turtles as I cruised up between them. The other islands were visible today and the West Maui mountains were so clear!  One last turtle surfaced and that made five turtles for today!  I paddled back to Kam 1 and then went for a swim.  The wind tried to come in a couple of times but still had not fully arrived by the time I left the beach.  I was so happy to be out on my board after missing yesterday!  I hope the wind cooperates tomorrow too!

Today was a different view of turtles.  We had the grand children overnight and took them to the Maui Ocean Center to explore.  It was a beautiful day!  The kids really enjoyed  the sealife and climbing on everything!  Tomorrow it’s back out on the water for me…..

Wow!  What a perfect day!  The conditions were so good for paddling and swimming.  I missed yesterday because I had stuff to do in town so I was ready to get out there today!  I headed south to the boat ramp and the snorkel boat had just pulled up when I arrived there.  There were so many turtles!  I had to share them with the snorkelers but there were plenty to go around!  It was annoying when they got in my photos though.  There were turtles of all sizes today!  My buddy, Bumpy made an appesrance and wowed the crowd!  He lounged on the surface right in the middle if them!   I thought the tourists were going to go crazy with excitement…… I had to tell them to stop screaming!   I counted about ten turtles for the day and then paddled back.  The conditions stayed nice for my swim too.  Just an all around gorgeous day!
