Lucky Break!

Well I got a lucky break from the wind this morning!  I grabbed my opportunity and went out on my board!  It was really beautiful but I didn’t really trust the wind.  It has been so crazy windy lately.  I could see the white caps out there just waiting to roar in so I didn’t dare go far.  I paddled south first and ran into a paddling friend.  We paddled towards the end of Kam 2 and I told my friend I was turning around.  There were some rolling wind swells bumping from the north and I wondered when the wind would follow.  I paddled all the way down to Kalama Park as the white caps got closer and then turned around.  Two guys were out on kayaks and they told me they didn’t think the wind was coming in.  I told them to turn around and see the white caps behind them.  I don’t think they wanted to believe it.  I headed back to Kam 1 and just in time!  Just as I got in….  The wind started blowing.  I wasted no time getting my board up on my racks!  Just in time again!  By the time I went out for my swim, the wind was blowing crazy like yesterday.  I swam into the wind almost down to the end of Charley Young Beach and it was a workout!  The trip back was a breeze…… I just let the wind and ocean push me back.  It was pretty nice and the water was clear.  But I wonder what happened to the kayakers?   Who knows!  Next time I bet they keep a better watch on the white caps!
