It was a beautiful morning! The sun had no problem coming out today. I walked the beach and then went swimming. The water is so nice! I had numerous turtles swimming around me down at the coral reef and Peekaboo came up to visit me three times! I got great photos! Then out Paddling…. I had at least eight turtles at the point! There were way too many people at the beach today….. so I had to leave. I hope it’s less crowded tomorrow…..
Wow! What a day! I’m getting so spoiled with all these turtles! The sun finally came out for the morning and after walking the beach, I went swimming. I immediately encountered a big turtle! It was swimming north so I did too. Then I turned around and headed south down to the coral. The turtle I have named “Peekaboo” was resting in her protective spot as usual. I swam around the area waiting to see if she wanted to come up. I saw a bunch of fish and a big lobster! I have never seen a lobster there before. Then the turtle started to surface! I just treaded water and took photos while she swam all around me. This turtle doesn’t hesitate to come right in my face and look at me! Then she dove down to her secret spot again. She came up two more times! Then another turtle zipped right under me so I followed that one. Then more turtles started to come around too! It was quite a turtle morning! Then I went Paddling too. I paddled down into Kam 2 and then came back and hung around at the point. Several turtles ( even two very small babies) surfaced and I got a few photos but too many people were there in my way. The wind started to blow and the water got choppy so I left. It was a pretty magical turtle day!
The morning sky was pink and purple today! Then clouds moved in and the sun struggled to come out. It was great for walking and swimming though! I swam down to the coral and spotted a turtle hiding under a ledge. I swam around waiting for the turtle to come up and saw a big Moray eel! I could see its teeth! Then a Barracuda swam by too….. then the turtle decided to come up. The turtle swam around me as I took photos and then brushed up against me. It came up twice like that. Then….. two more turtles swam into the area! I got to swim with them too! Finally… one more turtle showed up and was heading north so I went north with it! Wow…. FOUR friendly turtles in one morning! I was in turtle heaven. When I got back…. I was exhausted and cold ….. and since I stayed extra long with the turtles, it was too late to go Paddling. Oh well…. maybe tomorrow….

It was a very clear, sunny morning. The trade winds have come to our rescue and have blown the Vog mostly out. Even Lanai was visible today! The volcanic eruptions on the Big Island continue, however, with no end in sight yet. I had a nice walk and then headed out to swim. I swam down to the coral and there were so many turtles! I must have taken close to 100 photos and multiple videos! I was definitely surrounded! So many friendly turtles came out to play…… and I loved every minute! Then I went Paddling too. I paddled into Kam 2 and then hung around at the point where I had seven turtles! It sure was a turtle day! One turtle was so little …. just a baby. Hopefully the trade winds keep blowing the Vog away! Let’s hope….
After a pretty gray voggy sky last night…. the winds came through today and blew the Vog and most of the clouds away! It was so nice to get a sunset!
What a morning! The Vog was still hanging about and Lanai was nowhere to be seen. The sun came out though so that was good! I walked and then went swimming. It was a lovely swim! I swam down to the point and spotted a turtle that I thought was sleeping under a coral shelf. Then two tourists with a GoPro came by so then I knew the turtle was hiding! I didn’t want to give away the hiding spot so I swam away from the turtle! After the couple moved on….. I swam back. I was enjoying the coral and fish when all of a sudden…. the turtle came swimming up to me! It came right to my face and got so close that it was tricky trying to take photos and a video. It swam all around me and then dove down and retreated to its hiding place. Wow! The turtle chose to come visit me! It was amazing! That little encounter made my day….. I didn’t even go Paddling today…..
Nice morning…. but voggy. At least the sun came out! I walked the beach and headed out for a swim. I was swimming south and this older guy was swimming north…so we passed each other in close proximity. I soon realized that the guy was wearing no swim trunks… at all! I wondered how he got out to the water and how he came in wearing nothing! So funny. Then a big turtle came swimming right in my way! I turned around to swim with it. After awhile I turned around to swim down by the point. The water visibility was not that great but I could see the coral and fish. Then I headed out Paddling! It was surprisingly choppy….but still okay. I got seven turtles at the point today! Then I paddled north for a bit and then came in. I hope the Vog blows out soon……. there wasn’t even a sunset tonight!
It was a beautiful morning! Lots of sunshine and the wind was cooperating. I walked the beach and then headed out for my swim. I watched an eel squiggle it’s way into a hole in the coral! Then I went Paddling too. I didn’t 100% trust the wind after yesterday but there were plenty of turtles to hang out with at the point today! Seven of them in all. I was horrified when I saw a turtle start to surface by a tourist lady and she yells “look at this big turtle!” and proceeds to pound the turtle! I screamed at her to move away from it! I don’t understand people….. it’s like they don’t get it that this is a REAL live sea turtle! Ugggh. I paddled north for a while and then headed in. But as I caught this little wave in…… I jumped off my board as I usually do…. and didn’t realize how shallow it was and fell over onto my left hip! That HURT and then I had sand everywhere you really don’t want sand! Bummer! Well…. I hope it’s nice again tomorrow……
