Swimming Buddy!!

The sun came out this morning!  It was beautiful.  I walked the beach and then went swimming.  The water has remained amazingly clear and I decided to swim down to the point.  I enjoyed all the coral and fish.  I like to see the Morrish Idols and Puffer fish!  Then a turtle joined me and I got to swim with her for a little while!  What a treat!  By the time I swam back…. the wind had started to blow and soon white caps followed.  No Paddling today… maybe tomorrow…..

Beautiful Day!!

A sunny morning!  It was calm and beautiful, perfect for a beach walk.  Then it was a great swim!  The water clarity is still pretty good.  Next it was Paddling.  Just as I headed out, the wind picked up…. not again!  It had been so perfect up until that point.  Well, the wind came in and out and I ran into a Paddling friend.  We paddled down into Kam 3 and then decided that we didn’t trust the wind very much.  We paddled back to the point and I ended up with six turtles total for today!  Then too many people were there and it got choppy again like yesterday.  I paddled north and then came in.  It seems that Vog has moved in to mix with the scattered clouds even though the wind still seems to be blowing from the north.  With the volcanic eruption going on over on the Big Island….. we are sure to get some effects of that too.  I hope it’s nice tomorrow though…..

Windy & Four Turtles!!

What a beautiful sunny morning!  It rained yesterday and last night…. but so nice this morning.  I walked the beach and then swam.  Very nice and such clear water!  Then I prepared to go Paddling.  But the wind decided to come in!  I was all ready so I went for it.  There was hope that the wind would back off.  No such luck today!  It was SO choppy out Paddling….. I didn’t dare go very far.  I paddled north at first and then turned south and decided to stay near the point.  It was SO choppy!  White caps too!  It was hard to see the turtles….. but I got four.  It was almost impossible to take photos in the bumpy conditions!  I finally gave up and paddled north.  It was not as choppy right in front of Kam 1, so I paddled there and then went in.  Now it looks stormy!  What a weird Spring we are having…..

Eleven Turtles!!

Overcast morning again!  I walked in light rain today and it didn’t look promising for a sunrise.  Swimming was great though!  The water is still pretty clear.  When I first went out…. I saw what I thought was a pretty big fish.  Then I thought it might be a dolphin…but it was a bit dark without the sun out.  I finally started to think it might have been a small shark…. maybe four feet long!  I swam in closer to shore and headed south after that.  Then I watched a fish bothering a crab on the move.  After I came in, the ocean really calmed down and the sun started to come out.  I took my board out.  I paddle south and stopped at the point where I was lucky with the turtles!  Eleven of them today!  I paddled farther south and then turned back.  The wind was starting to blow from the north and I was glad I hadn’t gone too far!  I hope the weather improves soon….

Six Turtles!!

It was another overcast morning with a few sprinkles too.  I walked in light rain and then went swimming.  It was such a nice swim!  Such clear water!  Without the sun coming out …… the point was too dark… so I turned around.  Then I went out Paddling.  There were a few waves causing some shore break but not too bad.   It was bumpy at the point though!  The surge was pretty strong so I couldn’t go in very close but apparently the turtles couldn’t either… so I had six of them visit me this morning out farther.  Kam 2 put up the red flags!  I’m so glad I got out Paddling and it’s always a good day when there are turtles!  I hope it’s nice tomorrow…..

Vog & Twenty Turtles!!

The Vog was heavy this morning.  I could barely see Lanai which is my “stage one” Vog alert.  No wind today ….and that is why the Vog is here.  Nice conditions for walking, swimming and Paddling though! I paddled down to the boat ramp.  I had two turtles all to myself before a snorkel boat pulled up.  The snorkelers were pretty well behaved.  I had eighteen turtles at the boat ramp!  It was hard to see the turtles surfacing because the day was so gray.  On the way back I spotted two turtles at the point too!  Twenty turtles for the day!  I hope conditions are good tomorrow too …..

Nine Turtles!!

A windy start to the day while I walked the beach.  Then while swimming the wind backed off and it got nice.  I swam with a turtle missing her front left fin.  She seemed healthy and was moving pretty well.  Then I swam down by the point to enjoy all the fish and scenery.  It was beautiful!  Then I headed out Paddling and the wind kicked up.  It got pretty choppy too!  I had eight turtles at the point…. sat between two turtles and after one more turtle joined us…. I was sitting in a turtle triangle!  I was thrilled.  The last turtle was on the move so I paddled with it down to the boat.  Then the wind totally backed off and it got really nice.  I paddled down to Charley Young beach and then turned around.  I sure didn’t want to come in!  I hope tomorrow is nice too….
