Five Perfect Paddling Days!!

Nice!

Nice!

I keep pinching myself to make sure it is real having five great paddling days in a row!  It’s real! The morning stsrted out a bit windy……. blowing from the East.  I decided to paddle down to Kam 2 and see what the wind was doing.  The wind was blowing off and on, so the ocean surface wasn’t calm.  I ran into a paddling friend so we decided to go to the boat ramp.  Then we decided we didn’t trust the wind and paddled back to Kam 2.  Finally the wind backed off and it got really nice!  It was so nice paddling back.  I decided to swim while it was so nice.  As soon as I swam out….I spotted a big crab on the bottom!  I’m not sure if it was threatened by me but it had both claws extended out like it was ready for a fight!  I followed it around for a little while and then swam south towards the reef.  The wster was so clear today!  I saw lots of fish including Moorish Idols and a little baby Puffer fish.  It was such a nice day!  When I came in from swimming…… A paddling friend sent me some photos he had taken yesterday over at Hookipa Beach Park.  Turtles!  Apparently the turtles have been coming up on the beach to lay in the sun!  What a treat to get those photos……

Perfect Paddling!!

Perfect!

Perfect!

Unbelievable…… But…. yet another perfect paddling day!  Gorgeous day….. Sunny and calm…. Even though the weather was calling for strong trade winds.  I took a chance and paddled down to the boat ramp.  It was perfect conditions!   It was beautiful at the boat ramp!

So calm!

So calm!

i waited for turtles……. But not a single turtle surfaced!  I paddled back in nice conditions too and it was so nice that it was hard to come in!  My swim was good too, although the visibility was messed up for some reason.  I swam north until I could barely see the bottom and then turned back.  I don’t feel very comfortable when I can’t see around me.  The water was refreshing and still so calm!  No trade winds blowing yet by the time I left the beach and it was noon.  I’d be happy for another nice day tomorrow too!image

Fabulous Fall Days!!

So nice!

So nice!

These Fall paddling days have been great!   The conditions were not as calm initially as yesterday……. Intermittent wind was being pesky.  I paddled down to Kam 3 and then turned around.  I decided not to push it because the prediction was for some strong trade winds.  The wind  ended up backing off once I paddled down to Cove Park and it got super nice!

Then I didn’t want to go in!  I wanted to swim, though, so I begrudgingly paddled in.  I enjoyed the clear water and swam down to the reef where I watched the fish darting around!  What a fantastic day to be at the beach!

Another Perfect Day!!

Oh my!

Oh my!

i can’t believe it……. Another perfect paddling day!  When I first headed out on my board a wind was blowing from the south.  The wster wasn’t glassy at all but the wind actually felt good blowing at me.  It kept me very cool all the way down to the boat ramp.  By the time I arrived, though, the wind backed off and it got perfect and glassy just like it was yesterday!   I sat for a while waiting for the turtles…… But only one small turtle surfaced in about the same place the turtle surfaced yesterday.  Wher oh where are my turtles?  The conditions were perfect and the wster clear…. But no turtles.

What nice paddling conditions on the way back!  Swimming was great too.  I saw lots of little colorful fish, Humu Humu fish, some baby Unicorn fish and a large Puffer fish.  What a perfect day!

Super Nice Day!!

Just beautiful!

Just beautiful!

What a beautiful day!  The ocean was super calm and I headed straight down to the boat ramp.  I saw a paddling friend heading north and later she told me I missed several rainbows in that direction!  It was so nice at the boat ramp though and I could see it was pouring rain out on the water between Molokini and the island of Kahoolawe….

Rain!

Rain!

i sat for a while at the boat ramp and only one turtle surfaced while I was there.  Apparently not a turtle day even though it was perfect conditions!  A paddling friend showed up and said she didn’t see a single turtle in the other direction either.  We paddled and charred for awhile  and then I headed back to Kam 1.  It seemed like the white caps might be coming in and I wanted to swim.  On my way in……. a big turtle surfaced and then dove  under my board!  I followed it for a few minutes but it didn’t surface again.  Turtles can hold their breath for quite a long time.  Swimming was great too and the water is so clear right now!  The wind backed off and it stayed so nice at the beach.  I hope tomorrow is just as nice!

Gorgeous Day Out on the Ocean!!

Turtle!

Turtle!

I can’t get enough of these Fall days right now!  The paddling has been great and the water visibility is finally clear again.  I paddled down to my favorite place…. The boat ramp!  As soon as I arrived a line of three turtles appeared and I got one turtle photo.  Two of the turtles were quite small and didn’t stay on the surface for long.  Then three more turtles popped up so that made six turtles for today!  It was so perfect at the boat ramp!  I wanted to stay all day.  I paddled back in nice conditions.

So calm!

So calm!

My swim was extra nice because the water was clear and I saw a large Unicorn fish and a big Puffer fish munching on something on the rocks.  Then a Spotted Eagle Ray flittered by so I followed it in circles for a few minutes!   What a nice day!

So clear!
