Paddling with Dolphins!!
The last two days there was a south swell, so I ended up working out at the gym. This morning was beautiful but there had to be wind blowing pretty good out far because it was sending lots of wavy bumps my way! I really wanted to go paddling……
I first headed south with hopes of paddling down to the boat ramp…..but the wavy bumps and overcast skies changed my mind. I turned and paddled north. Just as I way half way past Kam 1, eight Spinner dolphins shot up in front of my board in formation! I gasped and almost fell off my board. Then about seven more dolphins surfaced so I turned around to paddle with them! I had dolphins right next to me on both sides of my board! Then I realized that they were just staying stationary so I just sat back and enjoyed being surrounded by dolphins! I had them all to myself! I watched them swimming underneath my board…… popping up…..and then suddenly all the dolphins disappeared as quickly as they appeared. I couldn’t get my phone ready to snap any photos because they moved too fast. What a treat! It has been a while since I paddled with dolphins so I was overjoyed! I continued down to Cove Park where I ran into a paddling friend. She was sorry she missed the dolphin encounter! We paddled back to Kam 1 and on my way in, a turtle popped up too.
My swim was very refreshing although the water wasn’t very clear because of the south swell that came through. It sure was a beautiful day!

Thirteen Turtles!!
It was a beautiful morning! Just a slight breeze blowing from the south. I headed straight down to the boat ramp and prayed the wind would not come up! I ran into a paddling friend and she paddled with me. The turtles did not make us wait! Immediately I was in a turtle triangle and then two more turtles joined us and surrounded us! There were so many turtles! Before long we were surrounded again!
It was so nice at the boat ramp! When I had counted thirteen turtles….. We decided to head back. I love turtle days! The wind held off for my swim too and the water is still so clear. I am hoping for another beautiful day tomorrow too!

Fifteen Turtles!!
The ocean wasn’t very calm this morning either……but I decided to go for it! It was a beautiful day, so I headed straight down to the boat ramp. I didn’t see the white caps out there today so I took a chance with the wind. It was great paddling down to the boat ramp!
When I arrived I didn’t see a single turtle. I was hoping the turtles would not make me wait but I ended up waiting anyway! Suddenly three turtles surfaced and I was in a turtle triangle! There were turtles of all sizes today! The turtles kept coming up. I sat in-between two sets of two turtles too! When I had counted fourteen turtles, I decided to take advantage of the decent conditions and paddle back. The wind stayed away while I swam too and I even swam with a turtle! That made fifteen turtles all to myself today! It was a gorgeous day until the wind came hurling in blowing sand everywhere and toppling umbrellas! I hope it’s nice tomorrow…….

Bumpy!!
The wind has been something else! This morning the water was not calm……I knew I was in for a bumpy ride. I could see the white caps looming out in the distance and I wondered when they would move in. I decided to get out on my board anyway. I ran into a paddling friend and we decided to take a chance and paddle down to the boat ramp. By the time we got to Kam 3, the ocean got really bumpy! I started to think that the ocean was not being friendly at all. We turned around and paddled north. Just as we passed Charley Young Beach a turtle popped up! Then when we got to Cove Park, the ocean was glassy. We wondered how it could be so calm there and so bumpy farther south. We hung around there for a few minutes and then headed back into the bumpy water! We paddled down past Kam 1 and another turtle popped up. I decided to head in and get to my swim. Just as I was heading in, a snorkeler pointed out a big turtle just under her! I hung around there for a few minutes watching the turtle and then I headed in.
It stayed windy all the way through my swim. I swam against the wind to the north and then rode the wind back. The water is still very clear! I don’t know when this wind will make up it’s mind on what it wants to do but it’s always great to get out on my board. It was still a beautiful day!

Crazy Wind!!
The wind has been crazy lately. It has been so unpredictable. I just swam yesterday and as soon as I came in, the wind backed off and then it was nice! Today I got down early, even before the lifeguards, and it was already breezy. I sat on the beach and watched it for a while and then a paddling friend called me to ask if I was going out. The wind line had just backed off and the conditions were getting better, so I told her I was going out. My friend came out too and we decided to paddle down to Kalama Park. It was still bumpy but at least we could paddle! A turtle popped up just as we were going past Charley Young Beach! Then it dove down and I could see it near the bottom. The water is really clear!
Not very many people were out paddling because of the wind, but the wind was pushing on shore, making it a chore to keep paddling to stay out. We paddled down to Kam 2 and then I decided to go in and swim. Just as I managed to rinse off my board and hoist it up on my racks, the wind backed off again! Swimming was great! It was so clear! I hope the wind gets it figured out soon….. maybe tomorrow……

Beautiful Day!!
Between the south swell, the rain and wind……it has been a mixed bag these last few days. This morning seemed promising so I went down to the beach. I could see white caps way out, but the ocean was perfect! I paddled down to the boat ramp being pushed by some glassy wind swells from the north. It was spectacular at the boat ramp! I didn’t wait down there too long because I knew the wind was going to push closer to shore …..but I did get visited by one turtle.
It didn’t stay around very long either! I paddled back in nice conditions and the wind stayed way out during my swim too! I swam in the middle of a school of about 50 silver blue little fish! The water was very clear too.
It was just a gorgeous morning…….until the wind blew in like crazy at 11:00 a.m.! I knew it was coming! White caps everywhere then…. I hope tomorrow morning is just as nice as today!

More Vog and South Swell!
The south swell is still lingering. Yesterday I opted out and went to the gym. Today I wanted to paddle but decided to swim instead. There was no wind blowing this morning so it was just the swell. I swam where the water was relatively clear thinking that I would not be tossed by a wave……I felt quite a few swells pick me up and drop me down as they passed me! The water is getting so much warmer too. I figure the swell will linger another day or two and then hopefully I can get back to my turtles! The vog continues to move in and out, but it is raining right now so hopefully the rain will clear away the vog. Tomorrow is another day!
