Windy!!!!

It was s beautiful start to the day……. lots of sun and calm water for swimming.  After my walk, I headed out swimming and swam south.  It was just beautiful down at the coral and lots of fish!  Then I went out Paddling and the wind came up complete with white caps.  I was hoping the wind was going to back off…but NO!  It was so choppy with wind waves….. there was no way to stop Paddling in that wind.  I decided to just make it a workout day and paddled over the wind waves against the wind……it was brutal!  Oh well…. at least I got out Paddling!

Turtle Gift!!

Today is Mother’s Day and what a beautiful day it was!  Sunny and calm…. perfect for walking and swimming AND paddling!  I enjoyed a wonderful swim with lots of fish and then went Paddling.  It was just a little windy…… comfortable actually.  I knew the trades were supposed to blow today so I figured I had a couple of hours before that happened.  I paddled down to the boat ramp again!  No boats or snorkelers today!  I leisurely had sixteen turtles visiting me.  After the first four turtles there was a lull so I was calling out to the turtles… where are all of you???  No sooner did the words leave my mouth ….. FIVE turtles surfaced one after the other all around me!  I was surrounded!  It was just beautiful down there.  Then one by one…..seven more turtles popped up!  Even a very small baby turtle…… it was so cute and fast as lightning.  I paddled back in still nice conditions and made it in before white caps appeared.  I hope there are many more days like this coming up!

Turtle Day!!

It was another perfect day!  The bit of rain we got yesterday plus the wind blowing north….. has really helped us avoid the worst of the Vog so far.  The beach was perfect for walking and swimming was divine!  I headed down to the point… but just before I got to the coral…. a big male turtle came swimming my way!  Of course I turned around to swim with him.  He was SO friendly that he kept swimming right in my face!  I kept trying to swim away from him to get better photos but he kept following me.  So funny!  I swam with him down halfway to Charley Young beach and then I had to leave him and go in.  It was on to Paddling next!  It was so nice still and I headed to the boat ramp.  I was lucky and had the place to myself initially…… just me and thirteen turtles!  I was loving it!  Then a pesky snorkel boat zoomed up to break the tranquility and dumped off its snorkelers.  It was time to split!  I paddled back and at the point I spotted the tiniest baby turtle yet!  That made fifteen turtles in all for me today….. I’ll take it!  I hope tomorrow is just as nice …..

Perfect Day!!

The sun came out early!  The Vog was quickly moving in but it was still mostly a beautiful day.  It was low tide which was great for beach walking.  Then it was off for my swim!  It was so calm and nice.  I swam down to the point and saw lots of fish.  I really enjoy the scenery there.  Then a turtle came swimming in my direction!  It swam about me and then dove down and wedged itself into a hole in the coral.  I wonder if they ever get stuck?  Then the wind came in a little but not too bad so I went out Paddling.  The wind managed to clear some of the Vog!  Then it backed off and got so perfect.  I got five turtles at the point and Kam 2!  It was so nice that I really didn’t want to come in.  I hope it’s this nice tomorrow……

Sunny Day & Five Turtles!!

It was a sunny day today!  The weather has been so weird lately….. clouds, Vog, wind, rain…. you name it!  Okay… maybe not snow, but bad enough.  A sunny day was a welcome change for sure.  I walked the beach as the sun fully came out and then headed out for my swim.  At least the water has been pretty clear through it all. While swimming I even spotted a Starfish!  I couldn’t believe my eyes.  I have never seen a starfish at Kam 1!  I enjoyed the sun sparkling on the coral and the fish busily swimming about.  The conditions were still nice, eventhough I could definitely see white caps out past the boat.  The question is always when will the wind come in.  I took off Paddling and headed north.  Then I turned and headed south.  The ocean got bumpy and then the wind did come in!  I hung at the point…. hoping the wind would back off… but no such luck.  I managed to get five turtles coming up at the point though!  Then it was a struggle Paddling back.  I sure was glad I hadn’t gone too far!  But it stayed sunny at least and it looks promising for a sunset tonight…. stay tuned!

Gray & Windy!!

It’s supposed to be Spring!  But it’s been so gray and windy.  It was good for walking and I did swim….. but it sure was choppy! I headed south and then turned around when it just seemed too rough to be swimming near the rocks and coral.  The water felt great, though, and still good water clarity.  The sun just didn’t make it out and I ended up going home because it was just too chilly.  Come back sun!

Turtle Buddy!!

It was a beautiful but windy morning.  I could already see white caps out on the ocean and it was early!  It was sunny though… and a nice low tide for beach walking.  Then I went swimming.  The wind was strong from the north so at first I swam against it.  Then I decided to swim down by the point, but I knew the swim back would be challenging.  The wind and current pushed me easily south.  I was jostled around too but I enjoyed the fish and underwater scenery.  I was heading back north when a small turtle appeared! It was swimming all over by me… it would go under me and end up on my other side, looking right at me!  It was so friendly.  The turtle swam right up to me and let me give it a couple of rubs on its shell!  I got a bunch of photos of it.  We both were getting pushed around by the current and wind…. but it remained with me for quite awhile.  It was so cute!  Then I realized the turtle had taken me all the way back down to the point!  The swim back was definitely challenging now and at times it felt like I wasn’t moving forward at all.  I finally made it back and I was tired out. No Paddling today…not until there is a break in this wind.  Hopefully tomorrow….
